Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are based in a generally tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal income acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; however, financing sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open 24 hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel compound that highlights numerous comforts accompanying the casino, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 gaming tables.
